Joymixa is a creative music game where you mix separated instruments live — deciding what plays, when it drops, and how it sounds.
There is a library of tracks ready to go. Open the browser, tap a button, the beat drops. No account needed, no install, no music knowledge required.
How it works
Every track in Joymixa is split into stems (the individual instruments in a track — drums, bass, vocals, synths). Each stem is assigned to a button on your screen or gamepad. You press buttons to bring instruments in and out of the mix, building your own version of the track in real time.
While you mix, you can add real-time effects — filter, delay, flanger, reverb, and phaser — using the analog sticks on a gamepad or the on-screen controls. You control the BPM, and all stems stay in sync automatically.
See what you hear
Sound is invisible — but Joymixa shows you what is happening in the audio. Each active button lights up with a ring that reacts to the sound it produces. A bouncing ball at the bottom of the screen follows the rhythm, with colored markers showing you where each cycle of the music restarts. These visual cues help you feel the rhythm and understand the music, even if you have never studied music theory.
Who is Joymixa for
Joymixa is for everyone — from people who have never made music to experienced producers and DJs.
- Complete beginners — no theory, no gear, no experience needed. The visual feedback guides you.
- Casual music fans and gamers — if you listen to music and play games, you already have everything you need.
- Aspiring producers — real-time effects, BPM control, and Ableton Link compatibility as a low-friction starting point.
- Experienced DJs and producers — upload your own tracks as stems, sync with your DAW via Ableton Link, and perform live with a gamepad.
What you need
A browser and any device — phone, tablet, or desktop. Joymixa works in Chrome, Brave, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. No download, no install. You can also install it as a PWA for an app-like experience.
A gamepad (Xbox, PlayStation, or others) turns Joymixa into a physical, tactile instrument — but touch, keyboard, and mouse all work. Start with what you have.
Try it free
Most of Joymixa is free and does not require an account. Play any track in the library, use all effects, record your sessions, create playlists, and customize your gamepad layout. Everything you create is saved in your browser and survives refresh.
Subscribe when you want to sync across devices, share recordings with others, or publish your own tracks to the library.
The library
Joymixa comes with a growing library of tracks across different genres and BPMs — all free to use. The library is copyleft: tracks are shared under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, which means they can be used for non-commercial purposes with attribution.
You will not find full songs by famous artists here. Tracks in Joymixa are short looping fragments — typically a few seconds long — designed for live mixing. You create something new every time you play.
For producers
Upload your own music as stems — drag and drop your exported files into Joymixa and start playing immediately. The upload itself takes seconds. You can test the upload flow for free without an account; your stems are stored in your browser for that session. Subscribe as a Producer to publish tracks permanently to the library for all users.
Joymixa also supports Ableton Link, letting you sync BPM with your DAW and other Link-enabled devices for integrated live performance setups.
See the Uploading Tracks guide for the full workflow.
Privacy
Joymixa uses no cookies and no third-party tracking. Anonymous usage telemetry is minimal and can be turned off in settings.
