Data Controller

The data controller for joymixa.com ("we," "us," or "our") is responsible for the processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy. For questions or requests regarding your data, please contact us at: privacy@joymixa.com

This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our website and services, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Spanish data protection law (LOPDGDD).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information When you register or purchase a subscription, we collect:

  • Email address — provided via Auth0 during registration. Legal basis: contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR)
  • Profile data (display name, username, bio, avatar, website) — provided voluntarily. Legal basis: contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b))
  • Payment information — processed exclusively by Stripe; we do not store card details. Legal basis: contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b))

1.2 Automatically Collected Information We collect limited technical information necessary to deliver and secure our service. This may include server access logs containing IP addresses, browser type, and timestamps. Legal basis: legitimate interest in security and service availability (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not use this data for tracking or profiling.

2. Use of Information

2.1 Personal Information We use the personal information you provide to:

  • Process your registration and maintain your account
  • Process and fulfill your subscription purchase
  • Communicate with you regarding your account, subscription, or inquiries
  • Send you relevant updates, newsletters, or promotional offers (only if you have opted-in)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information We may use automatically collected information to:

  • Maintain security and prevent abuse
  • Diagnose technical issues and ensure service availability
  • Generate aggregated statistical data for internal use

3. Cookies and Local Storage

3.1 No Cookies: Our application does not set any cookies on your device. We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. No cookie consent banner is required.

3.2 Local Storage: We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to store strictly necessary data for the application to function:

  • Authentication tokens — managed by Auth0 to maintain your login session
  • User preferences — theme, audio settings, gamepad configuration, and similar app settings
  • Telemetry opt-out preference — a single flag storing your analytics choice

This data is stored only on your device, is not transmitted to our servers (except authentication tokens used for API requests), and can be cleared at any time via your browser settings. Payment processing is handled entirely on Stripe's own domain — no Stripe code runs on our website.

3.3 In-App Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous, session-scoped usage statistics to improve the application. This data is not linked to your account and cannot identify you. Specifically:

  • What we collect: Feature usage events (e.g., which features are used, playback actions, settings changes), device category (layout mode, quality tier, locale)
  • What we do NOT collect: No account identifiers, no persistent tracking IDs, no IP addresses in analytics data, no browser fingerprinting, no canvas or font probing
  • Session ID: A random identifier generated in memory for each page load. It is never stored on your device and cannot be used to track you across sessions
  • Retention: Analytics data is automatically deleted after 90 days
  • Opt-out: You can disable usage analytics at any time in Settings > Privacy > "Usage Analytics" toggle. This preference is stored locally on your device
  • Legal basis: This data qualifies as anonymous under GDPR Recital 26 (no means reasonably likely to be used for identification). We additionally rely on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for product improvement

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. Specific retention periods:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active; deleted upon account deletion request
  • Usage analytics: Automatically deleted after 90 days
  • Server logs: Retained for security and diagnostics purposes in accordance with applicable law
  • Payment records: Retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations

5. Third-Party Services and International Transfers

We use the following third-party data processors to operate our platform:

  • Auth0 (Okta, Inc., United States) — authentication and identity management
  • Stripe (Stripe, Inc., United States) — payment processing

These processors are based in the United States. Data transfers to the US are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, as well as each processor's data processing agreements and certifications. Both Auth0 and Stripe maintain EU-compliant data processing practices.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information. However, please note that no data transmission or storage method over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

Our website and services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately, and we will take appropriate steps to delete such information from our records.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15) — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16) — correct inaccurate personal data via your profile page

  • Right to object (Art. 21) — object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time
  • Disable usage analytics via the in-app toggle (Settings > Privacy)

You can exercise your right to access and data portability by using the "Download my data" feature in your profile. You can exercise your right to erasure by using the "Delete my account" feature in your profile. For any other requests, please contact us at privacy@joymixa.com.

9. Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for our operations is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD): www.aepd.es
