Live Mashup: Mix Tracks Together
In Joymixa you can mash up tracks yourself, live: layer the drums of one track under the vocals of another and perform the mix in real time — in your browser, for free.
A mashup is what a DJ does with two turntables: playing songs together, at the same time, in real time. Joymixa brings that to anyone — no decks, no training. Every track is split into stems, one shared BPM keeps everything in time, and you decide which layers play, when they enter, and how they sound.
How it works: one BPM for everything
Every track in Joymixa is split into stems (drums, bass, vocals, synths), each on its own button. There is one global BPM at any moment, and every stem of every track plays at it — whatever tempo the track was originally. That single rule is what makes free cross-track mixing possible: any stem of any track can play together with any stem of any other track, and they stay in time.
When you switch tracks, the stems you left playing keep playing. They are not interrupted — they become the bed you build the next layer on.
Your first live mashup, step by step
- Pick a track and turn on a couple of stems — say the drums and the bass.
- Open the library and load a second track. The stems from the first track keep playing.
- Turn on stems from the new track on the free buttons. You are now hearing two tracks at once, in time — and you are not limited to two: keep switching tracks and layering; stems from every previous track keep playing until you stop or replace them.
- Press a button that still carries a stem from the first track, and the new track's stem for that button replaces it instantly — in time with the mix.
- To stop a leftover stem without replacing it, hold Shift (keyboard) or the assigned gamepad button while pressing it.
Adjust the BPM at any point — hold Shift and press the arrow keys, or hold Start/Options and press D-pad Up/Down on a gamepad — and every stem from every track follows.
What to expect
Joymixa guarantees your mashup is in time — it does not guarantee it is in key. Two unrelated tracks can clash tonally, and a track stretched far from its original BPM sounds audibly processed. That is the nature of live mashups; finding pairs that fit is part of the game. The library search helps: filter by genre and BPM to find tracks that sit well together.
Record your mashup
Press the REC button and everything you do — every press, effect, and BPM change — is captured. Your recordings are saved in your browser, and you can replay them anytime. Subscribe when you want to sync them across devices or share them with others.
